Recently I've traveled to a multicultural summer camp. It surprised me to notice some ignorant thoughts and attitudes towards Arabs. Not knowing anything about ISIS, terrorism, torture, forced house takeover was simply shocking news for me. Thousands of lives were lost and are increasing every minute of every day. Most Arabs lost their dignity, honor and most importantly the joyful life they had, and when you ask me where I come from I answer Jordan, why would you laugh? How rude and ignorant is that? What type of person are you to not know our Arab Spring while all the problems raining on us are caused by greedy non-Arab countries wishing to have what we own?
Yes I'm Jordanian and ever since, a row of the wisest, most honorable and greatest kings ruled our beloved Jordan. No we don't have any civil war nor problems like most Arab countries, and peace will last in my country.
That's it for the Arab countries that surround us, but what about Egypt, Libya, Tunisia, Yemen and Morocco?
1) Multi-cultural 2) Multi-religious 3) The safest place 4) Most helpful and loyal country 5) Has the biggest welcoming and loving heart yet it is one of the smallest countries.
Being 'busy' isn't an excuse for not knowing anything about us, Arabs. Just like I respect you and your culture and just like I know about your country, studied and had exams concerning you, you must respect me, my culture and tradition.
If you think you're smart, and know nothing about Arab Spring, then think again because actually you're a simple minded person. Katreena Halasa |
